MetaMask airdrop confirmed?
The long awaited MetaMask airdrop was seemingly confirmed by Joe Lubin, Co-Founder of Consensys and the parent company of MetaMask, after announcing that it has recently reached 30 million active users — a 42% increase in the last four months — and will launch a DAO as part of progressive decentralization efforts.
“There’s a great user interface that we’re going to launch pretty soon... There is a DAO that is being being formed right now in the context of MetaMask.”
Without providing further details about the DAO or a date for the token launch, Joe confirmed that that MetaMask is intending to launch a token in the future.
As rumours of an airdrop has surrounded crypto users for several months now ever since it launched the token swap feature, it was the first time that MetaMask has publicly spoken about launching its own token.
Crypto and DeFi protocols have been doing airdrops since a long time ago to reward early supporters. While not all airdrops are life changing money, some of them go on to be valuable in future with built in utility.
Airdrops are essentially free money, so it may be wise to game for the airdrop by swapping with MetaMask across multiple blockchains that it’s supported on, including the most recent update on Avalanche.
